When Celebrities Use Their Powers for Doing Good

23. Demi Moore

With her ex-husband, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore founded THORN (formerly known as DNA), an organization that focuses on child sex trafficking activity. While it’s hard to believe something that goes on, it’s even harder to believe how little we hear about it. Moore isn’t shy about supporting other charities either.

22. Charlize Theron

It turns out the actress from South Africa who transforms into endless versions of herself for every movie, is really a philanthropist beneath it all. The big issue on Theron’s list is rape in South Africa. She was recently part of a public service campaign, “Real Men Don’t Rape.” She’s also created a foundation, aptly named the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. That foundation supports finding solutions for her other concern, the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

21. Angelina Jolie

The actress once known only for hijinks and harrowing headlines has changed her reputation in the last decade and a half. She’s become a dedicated mother, a philanthropist, and winner of a Global Humanitarian Action Award from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). To that effect, she’s now the Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR. For over 15 years she’s been directly part of humanitarian efforts in Tanzania, Cambodia, Syria, and Iraq.
