2. Laverne Cox
Of course, Laverne Cox is an advocate for LGBT rights, but she also speaks out for women’s rights. Using the attention afforded her by the Netflix series Orange is the New Black, Laverne takes every chance she gets to help cisgendered folks better understand the transgender community. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) awarded Cox the Stephen F. Kolzak Award in April 2014 for her efforts.
