Keukenhof Park, Netherlands
On the east coast of the Netherlands, one finds Holland, the frequently-used name to refer to the whole country. There’s actually a North and South Holland, and they are only part of the Netherlands. The largest flower garden, Keukenhof, resides in South Holland. There, gardeners tend some 7-million flower bulbs over a chunk of land 79 acres in size. Pack your allergy meds, not the sleepy ones, and make sure you have plenty of memory on your camera. Even better than surreal fields of color is the Castle Keukenhof, a humble three-story fairy book castle with several witches cap turrets and vines of ivy stretching across its brick exterior. The only thing it’s missing is a white horse parked in front.
