Officer Talks a Man Out of Suicide
When Highway Patrol officer, Kevin Briggs, spent an hour of his life talking to Kevin Berthia on March 11, 2005, he never could have imagined what would come of that conversation. Berthia was standing on the wrong side of the Golden Gate Bridge, ready to end his life. Briggs talked him out of it. Berthia went on to rediscover the value of his own, even have two kids. In 2013, he reunited with Briggs at an American Foundation for Suicide Prevention ceremony. He was finally able to thank the officer properly and present him with an award.
