Man Who Braved Fire to Save His Dogs
When 82-year-old Perry Boore emerged from the smoke engulfed building, Perry’s Orphans Sanctuary, neighbors had to restrain him from trying to re-enter. “He came out and smoke was just pouring out of the house,” said Wendy Maher to the Baxter Bulletin. “I had to stop him from trying to go back in and rescue more of them.” Medics rushed Boore to a treatment center, but he did not survive his burns. From his efforts, some 60 dogs survived, cared for by the community in the wake of the tragedy.
