When Wisconsin resident John Unger figured out that his aging arthritic dog found relief by floating in water, he knew exactly what to do. Every night, from his home on Lake Superior, Unger cradles his aging dog in the water until the little fella drifts off to sleep. After this image of Unger with his dog, Shep went viral, an unnamed donor paid for laser treatments to help ease his pain. Shep was 19 in this picture.
