40. Know Your “Why”

Above all, know your “why”. This is your overall purpose, the thing that gets you up in the morning. The best “whys” aren’t tied to material possessions, such as a big house or a car, or something out of our control. They’re tied to inner growth and learning. People who spend their days with the intent to learn and grow from each experience live longer, happier lives.
Figure out what makes you tick, and then go for it. Maybe you’re super interested in traveling the world. Maybe you like to meet new people, or cook fabulous meals, or read books or watch and analyse movies. Maybe you’re super into ice hockey or your golden retriever or volunteering on Saturdays. Whatever it is, figuring out one important driving force in your life that gets you out of bed every day will make you happy – no matter what it is.
