7. The Domino’s Hero
It was a Monday like any other. The local Domino’s in Memphis, Tennessee was going about its daily business. When one delivery driver, Susan Guy, showed up for her usual shift, however, she was concerned to find that one of her regulars hadn’t put their order in.
Jean Wilson had ordered one large pepperoni pizza and two diet cokes every morning like clockwork for three years. This one Monday, though? Nothing.
Any other person might have written it off. Maybe Jean just didn’t feel like having pizza that day. Maybe she felt like trying a different pizza place down the street. For Susan, though, it just didn’t add up. She went to Jean’s house anyway and banged on the doors and windows.
When she got no response, she dialed 911.
That action may have saved Jean’s life.
Paramedics arrived on the scene a couple minutes later to find Jean lying on her floor, unable to get to her phone. Jean was disoriented, but was rushed to the hospital. She ended up being perfectly fine – all thanks to Susan’s decision to check on her.
“We’re all so touched by Susan’s act of kindness and caring,” Domino’s company spokesman Tim McIntyre said in an interview, “For something so simple to turn into something as magnificent as saving a life — well, how do you put that into words?”
