Cliffs of Moher, Ireland
Where the land meets the sea we expect to find sandy beaches, but in Ireland, they do things a little different. Some would call the Cliffs insane. In fact, these are the Cliffs of Insanity from the movie, “Princess Bride.” Forget drawing hearts in the sand, the Cliffs stand almost 400 feet above the sea in places. Located on the west coast of Ireland, nearest to Shannon International Airport, you will likely lodge in Limerick or Galway, Ireland. You’ll want at least a couple of hours to enjoy them, but don’t stay so long you miss the first round of pints at your local pub. Depending on what time of year you visit the cliffs, you may want a good coat, one that’s waterproof. The wind can whip and the rain can sting, but so worth it in the toughest conditions. In fact, the more dramatic the weather, the more dramatic your view.
