23. The Teenager Who Survived a Bear Attack

In July of 2011, a group of teenagers were on a 30-day survival trek by themselves, without adults, when they were attacked by a mother grizzly bear. Though two of them sustained life-threatening wounds, all seven teenagers survived thanks to the skill of 16-year-old Samuel Boas. While the group waited for emergency rescue, Boas administered first-aid with improvised materials, staying calm through the whole situation. He even refused to be rescued first when help arrived, staying with the remaining injured until everyone was evacuated.
