16. The Teenager Who Crossed the Ice
It was winter of 2011. Kole Devisscher was driving by the iced-over Red River near Winnipeg, Canada, when he noticed a blue jacket floating in the water. He stopped his car and saw a young boy stuck in the ice. Kole thought quickly, throwing the boy his truck’s tow strap. The boy couldn’t grab the rope, though, as his hands were too frozen. So, Devisscher tied the rope in a loop and told the boy to put it around his shoulders. It worked, and he managed to pull the boy to safety. He was given an award for his bravery.
